"Horseshoe is hella dope, nigga ask Jarren/
We rapin' you little kids nigga, ask Jared/
I'ma call you niggas Kylie Jenner's dad/
Cuz y'all lookin like a bitch now, and you transparent/"

Horseshoe Gang stays quick to pull the trigger, immediately responding to Funk Volume's "Free Meal" diss. The way I see it, Funk Volume's gonna have to pull a rabbit out of a fuckin hat if they respond lol. Horseshoe Gang seems to be impregnable. Check this shit!

Funk Volume – Free Meal (Horseshoe Gang Diss)

"My girl's 'gram has more likes than yours does/
How does it feel to have never been on a tour bus/
It's probly similar to alcohol on a sore cut/
You niggas suck, in other words niggas, you're fucked/"

Funk Volume stands true to their bold statement (aside from the $500,000, so far), and made a response to Horseshoe Gang's diss track to them. This shit is gettin heated lol I love it. Check it!

Monday 24 August 2015

Horseshoe Gang "Half A Meal" (Hopsin & Funk Volume Response)

"You won't be able to stop it nigga I promise, you will die
You may wanna watch it like ya job is to supervise
Tryna spar with my silly ass similies
and syllables are certainly similar to suicide"

Days after Hopsin's claims that Funk Volume could take on any label/group in hip-hop, and would put $500,000 on it, someone worthy has responded. Horseshoe gang drops some fire that'll probably make Hopsin think twice about what he got his crew into. Hopefully this leads into something interesting lol. Check it!

This ain't a love song. It's just a piece of each of their minds. And things would be so much better if you weren't a bitch all the time. This one's from "Future Vintage" which comes out on September 18, 2015. Check it!

New track from emcee/producer Russ. This one's gotta laid back beat and over 3 minutes of straight rapping. This is the first track I've heard from this dude and it's pretty dope. Check it!

St. Mary medallion hanging from my rope/
Try to punk me and.... my gun smoke/
Look I'm outta control..... my gun go/"

Here's a live performance of a new track from 50, entitled "9 Shots". Along with the title reference, the vibe of this track revisits a previous version of 50 Cent. I love how this track sounds. The song starts at about 1:00 in. To hear the full track in CDQ, click here.

Somebody said, "put my weed down mister"/
This is my party, I could do the most here/
"Who the fuck invited you?", shit, I'm the host here/"

Styles P and Jadakiss brought 2004 back, and that's not a bad thing in this case lol. This shit has that classic D-Block vibe in my opinion. Check it!

Mac Miller - Pet Sounds (feat. Sean Price)

"If I woulda done my schoolwork/
I coulda been to Oklahoma sooner with a golden retriever I named cooper/
A part time at Bruegger's/
Workin' on securing me a future/
The American dream"

RA The Rugged Man presents a 16 year old rapper named Token, who although doesn't look to be a threat, will melt your face off when you watch this video.

Atmosphere - Behind the Scenes of "Sunshine" [Video]

Not too many artists would make a video for a song 6 years after the original release. Being that Atmosphere usually takes a unique approach, it's no surprise that it'd be them to do it. Check the behind the scenes!

"Summer's Mine" by Horseshoe Gang ft. K-Young & Kobe Honeycutt [Music Video]

"Please, don't leave/
Don't give me back that ring, I'ma be in magazines/

These spitters just released a new summer banger for the COB fans. This one's got that mellow-evening time vibe perfect for the BBQ season. Horseshoe Gang's new EP, "Knocking On Rap's Door" is out now and can be purchased by clicking here.

N.B.S. & Snowgoons feat. Termanology, Reks and Sicknature

From ya nostril to ya ankles, singing gospel with the angels/
I'm impossible to anger, I'll drop your shit, it's fatal/
Tomahawk you with a blade, you won't be poppin, you'll be painful/"

"Blinded" by Locksmith feat. Jarren Benton & Futuristic [Music Video]

"Never been a path I would take but mine/
Dealing with the past is a waste of time/
Never knew a mask would replace what's dying/
Whether you adapt is a state of mind/"

This shit is sick. Locksmith's prepping to release his forthcoming album, "Lofty Goals", and provided these visuals for a collaboration with Jarren Benton and Futuristic. Stay in the loop @ http://iamlock.com/

Wednesday 1 April 2015

"On The Bible" by Tech N9ne ft. Zuse & T.I.

"Let me calm my nerves/
I'mma simply put this on the word/
If ya hella aggravated cuz of a song you heard/
From the nina, I smoke a nigga like my ganja erb/"

Tech just dropped another single from his upcoming album, "Special Effects". This one seems like a new approach from Tech, to me at least. The beat's extremely heavy with a solid hook from Zuse to make it hit even harder. Both Tech and T.I. killed this shit. Check it.

Friday 27 March 2015

"Aw Yeah? (Intervention)" by Tech N9ne [Music Video]

"Yelling this to my superior, degrading of love is inferior/
Upon this earth a lot of people jerked, around about 300,000 in Syria/
Are you serious? I could never think of burying my children p-p-period/
Nigeria, I'mma yell while I'm walking through this hell cuz I'm furious/"

Tech N9ne just dropped a video for his first single from "Special Effects". I fell in love with this track the day it was released. It's sick hearing Tech involve some political opinions in his lyrics. Sometimes Strange ruins their songs with their videos, but I think this one's pretty dope. Check it.

Wednesday 25 March 2015

Music Video: "Hold On" by Komodo [prod. by TheCratez]

"Stuck with work that I could do in my sleep/
Living like this isn't what I view as a dream/
So is life a nightmare from which mutiny streams?/
People tellin' me what to do but I refuse it with glee/"

The homie Komodo just dropped his latest set of visuals from his recent project, "The Beast Within". In this video, Komodo takes you through a typical workday while using his lyrics to vent his thoughts about it. "Actin Crazy" by Action Bronson [Music Video]

"All I do is eat oysters/
And speak six languages in three voices/
It's Adriatic summers on a sail boat/
Don't even try to call, I'm not available for nothin'/"

Action Bronson dropped a unique set of visuals yesterday. This track's from his upcoming label debut album, "Mr. Wonderful", and it's dope as hell. In both the video and the song, Bronsolini appears to be just having a fuckload of fun. Something you also get in return for watching this video. Check it!

Thursday 26 February 2015

"Only When I'm High (La La La La)" by B-Real

"Dabbin' the wax out, I'll be damned if I pass out/
I'm all in the paper, smokin' the vapour, she got her ass out/
Taking the cash route, then I'm going home/
Smoking weed while I'm on the road, that's what you call a rolling stone/"

B-Real released a new mixtape a couple weeks ago, and just posted the tracks to YouTube. I checked a few but this one is catchy as fuck. This one makes me wish it wasn't so fuckin wintery here in Ontario so I could go blaze in the sunshine... I might have to save this track for summer lol. Check it!

"The Strangest" by MURS

"Rappers coming at me, guns blaze and won't smoke nothing/
They need to turn em in, it's journalists tryna quote sumthin/
Murder they careers, I'm America's most wanted/
Sprinkling they ashes on a blunt, yea, let's smoke sumthin/"

Another recent Strange Music release that I'm diggin. This one's gotta sick classic hip-hop vibe with some simple drums, keys and scratching that work to make this song as good as it is. Sometimes less really is more. Shit makes me feel good! Check it..

"Hood Go Crazy" by Tech N9ne ft. B.o.B. & 2 Chainz

"Down there they got the hair that's missin'/
Keep it bare, I promise I'll never tear that kitten/
I'm aware sex hittin' is to care when I share that stickin'/
So good I might impair that vision/"

I've been trying to be more open minded and embrace new school shit lately. So Tech's timing is impeccable to help me adjust lol. Tech got B.o.B. and 2 Chainz to hop on this repetitive club beat with him and I could definitely vibe to this in a club if I was sippin'. Special Effects will be in stores May 5th.. Check it!

Thursday 12 February 2015

"Killin My Soul" by Jarren Benton ft. Locksmith & Hopsin [Music Video]

"I don't know a nigga livin' in his right mind that could probably stop me/
Nigga shook like a young bitch in the room fucking Bill Cosby/
Mach 5 nigga, high speed in his face, watch his fucking eyes bleed/
Pull the plug from the life support and the IVs nigga try me/"

This is a dope track. It's from Jarren Benton's recently released project, "Slow Motion". I'm glad they called up Locksmith to get on this track because he fits in perfect. 3 heavy spitters over a dope beat, can't ask for much more. Check it.

"Like Me" by Joey Bada$$ ft. BJ The Chicago Kid [Music Video]

"So we burned the mary jane to the third degree/
Some niggas biting flows yo, that's burglary/
Same niggas actin like they never heard of me/
A fuck nigga could get clocked yo that's word to me/"

Finally got a chance to pick up B4.Da.$$ and I haven't listened to anything else since. It's one of those albums that drops you straight into the artist's environment. This video does the exact same thing. Check it!

Sunday 1 February 2015

"Unlistenable" by The Palmer Squares [Music Video]

"I'm known to chatter with hoes at a local tavern/
Grope a clam with no potassium, homie I go bananas/
Die hard, old habits control me, cognac and a stogie/
Been bestowed a gold plaque and a trophy/"

Videos like this are why I'm a fan of The Palmer Squares. There's not really much more I can say, you just gotta listen.

Saturday 31 January 2015

"Fuck Em" by JD Era

"Too many switch-siders, dick riders/
Rap liars, information providers/
Probly wearing wires, hate violence, love sirens/
You police speed dialers/"

Not usually a fan of this kinda music but I thought this song was pretty good. Canadian Ice H20 artist, JD Era posted this track to his SoundCloud a couple of days ago to get one simple message out there. "They ain't fuckin with us then fuck em!".

"Lie, Cheat, Steal" by Run the Jewels [Music Video]

"Teabag a pirhana tank, heart barely beatin'/
A wild one, who'll swim like directly after he's eaten/
While holdin' a toaster oven that's plugged with a fork in it/
Cuz death by electrocution's like life in New York, isn't it/"

Killer Mike and El-P just dropped some visuals for track 6 of their October 2014 release, "Run the Jewels 2". Haven't heard much from that project yet, but I like how this song/video turned out. They definitely have a unique sound and some fresh ideas. Check some previews of their album by clicking here

"Change Gonna Come" by Shuko ft. Saigon, Vinnie Paz & RA the Rugged Man

"OK, now for my last election/
I'm under pressure like Manning without the pass protection/
Television is just a weapon of mass deception/
Why you think all these women is gettin' ass injections?/"

German producer, Shuko, is releasing an album on February 3, which features the likes of Masta Ace, Evidence, B-Real, Blu, Talib Kweli & much more. I found this track from the project which features 3 artists that I really enjoy listening to. It's weird hearing these 3 vicious emcees collaborate over such a pop-sounding beat, but their verses are still dope and the message is strong. Check it!

"Paper Trail$" by Joey Bada$$ [prod. by DJ Premier]

"Balenciagas, Badass, my saga with the Henny agua/
Me and my niggas tryna eat, you pussies empanada/
The flow like plenty lava, with just a penny I could/
Multiply my wealth and make you work for me for twenty hours/"

I haven't yet had a chance to check Joey Bada$$' latest album, but DJ Premier shared this joint (which he produced) on social media. I decided to check it out and it's pretty dope. I really like Joey's idea for this song and it compliments the title of his album perfectly. Not to mention he's mastered his lyrics and delivery. Gotta give props to this man for keeping the real essence of hip-hop alive. Check it!

Friday 30 January 2015

"Dreamin" by Wax [Music Video]

"You rat bastard, rap's a task that Wax mastered/
Shut the fuck up I won't pass the last word/
Gotta homie who's a fat ass nerd/
That'll crash your website after he hacks your password/"

Wax dropped a set of visuals for the first track from his 2013 project, "Continue...". Haven't heard much from Wax up until this video, but I assume he's been busy with a combination of touring and creating new shit. I really like this song and video... straight spittin' and the visuals are done really well. Check it!

Wednesday 28 January 2015

"Aw Yeah? (interVENTion)" by Tech N9ne

"They gotta suffer the penalty cuz of a education/
Nobody wanna say nothing but I gotta call an abomination/
Pissed off, thinkin' what this cost/
What these babies blood drippin for, so I say in Latin 'listen Lord'/"

Tech took to social media a couple of days ago to gain confirmation from his fans as to whether or not he should leak a new song. The fans have spoken and Tech released Track 1 from his upcoming album, "Special Effects", which drops May 5th. This track's amazing in my opinion and provides some angst toward current situations in the world. Some different shit from Tech. Check it!

Tuesday 20 January 2015

"Media Midgets" by RA The Rugged Man [Music Video]

"Who's to blame when the brain of the next insane psycho flips/
Brain cells are programmed like they're membrane micro chips/
I'm guns and bible, I'm pro-life and pro-war, pro-fighting/
Profanity, writing, reciting, gambling, tossing the dice/"

This video reminds me of Borderlands or some shit. Pretty creepy and it's a very well done set of visuals. I really like this track, it has a nice smooth vibe to it and RA goes in n says some shit. Check it!

Saturday 17 January 2015

"Mural" by Lupe Fiasco [Audio]

"You gotta treat your vocal chords like it's a fortress/
And treat every single one of your words like reinforcements/
And especially when you recording cuz that's the portion that's important/
When I was reporting it I was poor, but now I'm more than/"

I really haven't heard much about Lupe's upcoming album, "Tetsuo & Youth", but it seems like that's how it always happens for me. I always end up getting his albums a bit late and regretting that I wasn't there to pick it up day one. These (pretty much) 9 minutes will prove to anybody that Lupe definitely hasn't lost it. Dope shit... check it!

KOTD Battle: Arcane VS Cortez [Video]

KOTD dropped a few new battles from Flatline 3 in the past few weeks. I checked this one out and thought it was pretty dope. Both Cortez and Arcane had a bunch of good lines. Ontario VS New York right here folks!

"Deja Vu" by Alyssa Marie [Live Performance]

"No backbone strong enough to hold this weight/
Wait.. who's controlling my fate?/
Did the lasso break? Is all of this a bad joke?
Did I plateau and fall flat onto my face?/"

This is fucking sick. Alyssa Marie has always been a beast, and probably one of the most lyrical female emcees I've ever heard. To top it all off, she has a band playing the music behind her and they absolutely kill it too! Such a dope video, this girl deserves more recognition. Check it!

"Stand Up" by Chali 2na [Music Video]

"I survive cuz I breathe underwater, people call me Aquaman/
Easy muscle with a little bit of greezy hustle like I owned a taco stand/
Treat a brotha like a nacho man, everybody covered in melted cheese/
With the lifestyle, hip hop is so iced out, the wealthy emcees they're ????? to freeze/"

DAMN. Chali 2na rode this beat with finesse. Not used to hearing him spit this fast and he killed it. He always spits some dope lyrics but this is a step up from what I expect from him flow-wise. Dope shit.. you definitely gotta check this one!

"Mental" by Madchild ft. Demrick [Music Video]

"Involuntarily solitary confinement/
No one to confide in, quiet in my environment/
Mentally I'm way off balance and off kilter/
Brain's way out of whack that's why I rap without a filter/"

Madchild recently introduced Philly native, Demrick into his Battle Axe Warrior family. This track sets the tone for the beginning of their partnership, and it sets it off with a bang. C-Lance produced this beat which is a perfect fit for Madchild's style and Demrick adapts flawlessly. This one's a banger... Check it!

Sunday 11 January 2015

"Left Home, Write Home" by Ngajuana

"You could say that his genesis, started with being senseless/
Evolved into being censor-less through passion and relentlessness/
Resulting in the birth of a rapper, who through his pen it lives/
Sitting at the bed of hip-hop with straight attentiveness/"

More dope Canadian shit for ya. This track's from London, Ontario's own, Ngajuana. This one's got some rural funk to it, and NGA kills it as usual. I really dig the chorus with that acoustic beat. Check it!

"Human" by emoceans.

"Cuz it's 4am and I'm drunk, like what the fuck am I doing?/
I'm tryna get more fucked up to the point that I am spewing/
I smoke one and I sit down and start thinking the truth is truant/
Then I'm like fuck it, all I know is we're all human/"

New shit from emoceans. This guy's always gotta strange, trippy sound that I don't hear too much of. Definitely a unique sound that suits him and he kills it. Here's some dope shit from my city for yall!

Friday 2 January 2015

"January On Lake Street" by Atmosphere [Music Video]

"Claim that you ain't afraid to die/
Then why are you afraid to fly, you better face the heights/
Get your bravery stripes or get your name denied/
Cuz you was waiting for a safer ride/"

More dope January 1st visuals, this time from Atmosphere. Although I didn't like Southsiders as much as a lot of Atmosphere's past projects, it was still pretty dope. This was one of the better songs in my opinion. The visuals are a little abstract which suits Atmosphere perfect. Check it!

"Trapazoid" by Dope D.O.D. [Music Video]

"I draw the borderline again,
Hella bad, the devil laughs/
Passin' me a Heineken,
Shadow cast on my mellow half/"

Dope DOD isn't waiting to get 2015 on the go. Being that their visuals are always on point, it's no surprise that this video is done really well. These European savages are fucked up but for some reason I dig em. Check it!
